Recall Dog Training was founded in 2017 by Simon Humphreys, a former Parachute Regiment soldier and Military Working Dog Regiment Reservist.

Upon leaving the Para’s Simon joined Her Majesty’s Prison Service (HMPS) and worked primarily as a Physical Education Officer. Tutoring NVQ fitness qualifications for YMCA and the British Weightlifting Association. Simon also successfully introduced and coordinated the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme within HMPS for Staffordshire County Council.

Whilst serving in HMPS Simon trained with the drug detection dog handlers, as well as externally, with a former West Midlands Police Dog Trainer to attain his National Association of Security Dog Users and British Institute of Professional Dog handler qualifications.

As dog training continued, Simon began working as a Fitness Manager and later General Manager for Fitness First in Derby and Leicester.

A year later Simon deployed to Afghanistan as an armed Close Protection Officer and trainer and has subsequently spent the past several years working in similar and more complex roles of security consultancy, close protection, and teaching. Providing various medical and weapon handling skills to local guard forces on a global scale, and deploying to

countries such as Egypt, Oman, Yemen Nigeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, India,

Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, and South Africa.

This included an operational deployment as a Security Manager with the US Military based in Kabul. The role required Special Security Clearance and consisted of overseeing the dual-purpose working dogs and handlers that provided internal camp security.

Diverse experiences and interactions with varied military and civilian organisations have widened Simon’s experience and skill set to help him learn new methods and techniques used by overseas dog handlers.

Additionally, Simon has acted as a canine advisor and bodyguard for BBC 1 TV’s Rogue Traders series, worked with numerous pet dogs and owners in the Midlands, and provided security dog services to high-net-worth clients in and around London.

Since 2019 Simon has been working for the Police in an instructional capacity. He has recently co-designed a new K9 first aid package that has

been developed for the dog handlers and kennel staff within

local Police Forces in the Midlands.

Simon holds additional qualifications in First Response Emergency Care 3,

First Aid at Work, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health

IOSH Managing Safely, and a Certificate in Education and Training.

Recall Dog Training has business insurance for the purposes of dog training and pet behaviour therapy. This provides cover for public and product liability amongst other additions.
